‘Explosion’ in lecturer redundancies a risk to nursing workforce

A surge in nursing lecturer redundancies – up 1,187% since 2020 – threatens the UK’s future nursing workforce, warns the RCN. With cuts across some 65% of institutions, the crisis risks undermining NHS staffing. The RCN urges more government funding, a workforce strategy and a concerted campaign from the government, unions and professional regulators to promote nursing education.
