NHS bank pay cuts: nurses fight loss of £70 per shift

Experienced and senior nurses have mounted a grievance over an NHS trust’s move to a near-blanket band 5 pay rate for bank work, regardless of nurses’ substantive banding and therefore their knowledge and skills. The nurses – some with band 7 roles – say patient safety concerns mean they inevitably practise beyond band 5 when on bank shifts.
